Concert Band

Overview: The Concert Band is made up primarily of freshmen band students, although several older students are also a part of the ensemble.  In Concert Band, students focus on fundamental skills related playing their instruments and perform a variety music primarily at a Grade 3 difficulty on the Maryland Music Educator's Association Graded Repertoire list.  The Concert Band has received Superior Ratings at the Washington County Large Ensemble Festival.

Eligibility: The concert band is open to Boonsboro High School students in Grades 9-12.  All Concert Band students must be enrolled in the correct band class, as rehearsals do occur during the school day.  Wind players should enroll in 5th period band and percussionists should enroll in 3rd period percussion ensemble. Students must maintain conduct and academic eligibility in order to perform with the concert band. For questions concerning eligibility and scheduling, please contact Mr. Engel.

Performances: The concert band performs in three to four concerts over the course of the school year.  The concert band performs annually in the Washington County Large Ensemble Festival in March, and the Maryland State Large Ensemble Festival in May should they qualify at the county event.

Rehearsals: The concert band rehearses daily during class.  Occasionally, the ensemble might rehearse outside of school to prepare for a concert or for Festival.  These rehearsals will be communicated by Mr. Engel as needed.  Please check the Concert Band calendar for full rehearsal information. (Note that daily in-school rehearsals are not listed in the calendar)
